ITINERARY:

 DAY 1: USA / COSTA RICA  
  • Fly to Costa Rica. Your bilingual Forum Tour Manager will greet you at the airport upon arrival and remain with your group for the duration of your trip.
  • Transfer by private bus to meet your host family in Alajuela.
  • While living with a host family, you will find that Spanish is more than just a textbook language. It becomes a living and working language, spoken and written on a daily basis. You will eat traditional meals, meet local people and have an excellent opportunity to practice your Spanish in real-life situations.
  • Dinner and night accommodation with your host family.
 DAY 2: SPANISH CLASSES – SAN JOSE TOUR  

  • Enjoy breakfast with your host family.
  • Board your private bus with your Forum Tour Manager and head to a Costa Rican school where you will partake in Spanish classes (about 3 hours).
  • Return home to your host family for lunch.
  • In the afternoon, enjoy a guided walking tour of San Jose. See some of the most popular sites, such as La Plaza de la Cultura (the Main Square) and La Plaza de la Democracia (the famous flea market) where you can practice your Spanish by bargaining with the local vendors.
  • Return to your host family for dinner and night accommodation.
 DAY 3: SPANISH CLASSES – SCHOOL VISIT 
  • After breakfast with your host family, go by bus to your daily spanish classes (about 3 hours).
  • Return to your host family for lunch.
  • In the afternoon, you’ll visit a local school to meet the students and do some community service. Public schools always need help to give students a better place to study! Painting some classrooms or fixing a roof can change the face of the school and give the children more motivation to learn.
  • Return to your host family for dinner and night accommodation.
 DAY 4: SPANISH CLASSES – DOKA COFFE TOUR 
  • After breakfast with your host family, go by bus to your daily spanish classes (about 3 hours).
  • Return to your host family for lunch.
  • After lunch, go for a tour of the coffee plantation at Doka Coffee. Breathe in the aroma of freshly roasted Arabica coffee beans as the production cycle from seed to roasting plant comes alive before your eyes.
  • Return to your host family for dinner and night accommodation.
 DAY 5: ARENAL / TABACÓN HOT SPRINGS  

  • Today, after breakfast, say “hasta luego” to your host family and journey to see the now dormant Arenal volcano. The fiery views are gone for now, but Arenal is still a worthy destination as it is surrounded by its beautiful natural park.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Later, experience the Tabacón Hot Springs. These natural springs and geysers are a direct result of the volcanic activity of Mount Arenal. You’ll have the chance to relax and bathe in nine different pools while enjoying the striking views of the mountain and surrounding jungle.
  • Dinner at a local restaurant in Tabacón.
  • Night accommodation at La Pradera Hotel (or similar).
 DAY 6: ZIP LINE TOUR / DANCE & COOKING CLASSES 

  • After breakfast at the hotel head over with your Forum Tour Manager for an exhilarating Zip Line Tour. 70% of all life in the tropical forest exists at the tree canopy level and you’ll see it all in flying colors as you glide midair through the forest, from platform to platform built on 60 and 90 foot trees.
  • Learn to cook like a true “tico” – partake in a cooking class in La Guácima learn about our diverse local ingredients and delicious traditional dishes. Be sure to follow instructions well as this will be what you’re having for lunch today!
  • After, show off your fancy footwork during a dance class!
  • Dinner and night accommodation at your hotel El Rancho Lodge (or similar).
 DAY 7: DEPART 

  • Breakfast at your hotel before transfering by private bus to the airport to catch your flight back to the USA.
