SPAIN | IMMERSION IN MADRID 

9 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS

ITINERARY:

DAY 1: DEPART

  • Fly overnight to Madrid.

DAY 2: MADRID

  • ¡Bienvenidos a Madrid!, capital of Spain. Madrid is the liveliest of all the Spanish cities and the locals, known as “Madrileños,” are just as much an attraction as some of the architecture and museums.
  •  A Forum representative will meet you at the airport and help you transfer to the Colegio Virgen de Mirasierra.
  • Meet your host families and get settled in. While living with a host family, you will find that Spanish is more than just a textbook language. It becomes a living and working language, spoken and written on a daily basis. You will eat Spanish food (at the standard Spanish meal times), meet Spanish people and have an excellent opportunity to practice your Spanish in real life situations.
  • Enjoy your first evening with your host family.

DAY 3: FREE DAY WITH HOST FAMILY 

  • Today you will spend the day with your host family, get to know them better and have the chance to learn more about Spanish culture.

DAY 4: SPANISH CLASSES & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

  • Breakfast with your family before going to school.
  • Attend classes for approximately 3 hours a day, in Spanish, with Spanish students. All educational materials required during your stay will be provided. After class, have lunch at school.
  • In the afternoon, meet up with your your Forum Tour Manager and go on a walking tour of the most famous sites of the capital, Calle de Alcalá, Gran Via, Plaza de España and Puerta del Sol, the heart of Old Madrid.
  • Return to your family for dinner and night accommodation.

DAY 5: SPANISH CLASSES & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

  • Breakfast with your family before your classes in the morning, followed by lunch at school.
  • In the afternoon, meet your Forum Tour Manager and have a guided visit of Museo National del Prado, home to the most complete collection of Spanish painting from 11th-18th centuries, and numerous masterpieces by great universal artists such as El Greco, Velázquez, and more.
  • Head to Parque del Retiro at the edge of the city centre. In this 350 acre park you can see various sculpture galleries and statues, including the Crystal Palace.
  • Next, get to know the secrets of Madrid by participating in a Treasure hunt. Prizes for the winning team!
  • Return to your family for dinner and night accommodation.

DAY 6: SPANISH CLASSES & SPORT ACTIVITIES

  • Breakfast with your family before your classes in the morning, followed by lunch at school.
  • Today, you’ll have the chance to get active as well as get to know your fellow Spanish students during an afternoon of sports and activities.
  • Return to your family for dinner and night accommodation.

DAY 7: SPANISH CLASSES & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

  • Breakfast with your family before your classes in the morning, followed by lunch at school.
  • In the afternoon, your Forum Tour Manager will take you to the Estadio Bernabéu, home of Real Madrid Football club. The stadium’s history dates back to 1947. The stadium holds 90,000 people and welcomed the World Cup in 1982.
  • Return to your family for dinner and night accommodation.

DAY 8: SPANISH CLASSES & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

  • Breakfast with your family before your classes in the morning, followed by lunch at school.
  • In the afternoon meet your Forum Tour Manager and visit the Royal Palace – an immense 18th century palace twice the size of Buckingham Palace and one of the most beautiful in Europe. After visiting the palace, take a stroll through the Campo del Moro Gardens to the west and the Sabatini Gardens to the north.
  • The rest of the afternoon is free for you to discover the city at your own pace. Catch up on some souvenir-shopping or enjoy churros con chocolate in the beautiful Plaza Mayor.
  • Return to your family for dinner and night accommodation.

DAY 9: DEPART

  • This morning after breakfast, say “hasta luego” to your host families before transferring to the airport to catch your flight back home.

Study at Virgen de Mirasierra in Madrid 

The Virgen de Mirasierra School is located in a residential area in the northern zone of Madrid called Mirasierra.

The school promotes academic excellence, recognition of individual potential, availability for dialogue, critical thinking skills, the value of effort and development of social relations.

The Virgen de Mirasierra School is characterized by:

Family Homestay Program 

A homestay program is an excellent opportunity for students to fully immerse themselves in a different culture, practice and improve their knowledge of a foreign language, and make international connections and friends. During their stay, students will eat Spanish food, meet Spanish people & have the opportunity to practice Spanish in real-life situations.

Homestay families are recruited within the school community and all have children attending the school. The list of selected families will be provided a month prior to departure. Before arrival in Spain, students will be paired with a Colegio Virgen de Mirasierra student to be hosted by them and their family. Upon arrival, students will spend each evening with their host family (1 or 2 student(s) per family).
